ORGANISATION PROFILE 機構簡介

INTRODUCTION

Children are the future of our world. Play offers children the opportunity to explore, acquire, transmit cultural expressions and play traditions in joyful manners which continue through adulthood.

Not surprisingly, children enjoy self-initiated, self-directed and intrinsically motivated free play though it is fading out in an era of hurried childhood. The overstructured and overscheduled child (engaged in various structured activities, such as tutoring classes, piano lessons etc.) with no time to play freely leaves the egocentric child with fewer opportunities to think out of the box as well as becoming an dependent adult in the future.

The spontaneity of feeling and affection of children manifested while engaging in free play will have lasting effects for them naturally: broaden the horizons, establish positive relationships with peers and love societies at large when they grow up. To some extent, play freely benefits society.

Founded in 2010, the Hong Kong Playwork Association Limited (HKPwA) is a leading playwork training and child-centred play services consulting company renowned for its creative and effective approaches by providing solutions and insights to all sectors focused on free play.
